This is a friendly reminder for our puppies and owners that Parvo virus can lie dormant for over 5 years in the environment ( grass, soil, any contaminated surface). It is easily spread to canines, especially our pups that aren't fully vaccinated though direct or indirect contact with feces. With the snow now melting and the rain that is on the way, the virus could spread to areas that weren't directly contaminated. Make sure to keep unvaccinated puppies and dogs from areas you aren't familiar with. If your animal starts to show any signs of being lethargic, vomiting, runny and/or bloody stool seek treatment. Parvo Virus can be fatal and costly. Although it seems to affect puppies at a higher rate, it isn't unknown for adult dogs to get this virus. Vaccinating your animal is key to preventing a chance of your fur baby catching this virus.
