Brrr....It's getting cold out!

When the weather turns cold, our furry outdoor feline friends start looking for a warm place to rest. Be careful when you start your vehicle and make sure your little companion isn't up inside the engine!

This happened to me a few days ago when I went to check the mail. Luckily, our little Binx was unharmed and only rode from the house to the mailbox at the end of our driveway, but it could have been much worse! She had managed to climb up close to the engine while looking for a warm place to take a nap.

There are a ton of neat ideas online for DIY insulated cat boxes to keep your outside critters warm. For instance, you can take an old cooler or even a Rubbermaid tub and drill a hole in the side and fill it with straw. You can add even more insulation by lining the tub with Styrofoam. They also make heating pads meant for outdoor use to make their box even cozier.
