Ewww, Parasites!

Do your pets take a monthly, bi-yearly, or even a yearly heartworm and intestinal parasite preventative? If not, they should!!! Parasites are all around us. Did you know that Heartworms are spread by Mosquitoes? Heartworms can be a deadly disease, and very costly to treat once they have them. However, heartworms are easily preventable with a variety of heartworm preventions. Intestinal Parasites are often forgot about as well, because, like heartworm, most intestinal parasites cannot be seen with the naked eye. Intestinal parasites can cause problems in your pets, such as anemia, weight loss, and malaise. Several intestinal parasites are also known to be zoonotic; which means they are transmissible to humans.   That’s right, you and your children are at risk of contracting roundworms and hookworms directly from the soil. So, in the best interest of you and your family, as well as your “fur kids,” keep your pets on regular parasite prevention.
