Don't Be Fooled!

We had a case of counterfeiting here at River's Edge Veterinary Hospital on Friday. A new client brought in her cat because she had a flea problem. She had just purchased 3 Seresto collars from Amazon and paid about $75 for them. She had one of them on her cat during her appointment and lots of live fleas. The poor cat had red bumps all over and was quite miserable. The collar looked pretty convincing, but after placing lots of them on dogs and cats over the years, I could tell it just didn't feel quite right. She brought an unopened can that had come from Amazon and I got one of our cans and we compared them. 

The packaging was very well done, there were little reflectors inside as well as a package insert and a reminder sticker. If you opened it at home and didn't have an authentic package to compare it to, it would have been very unlikely that you could known that you had been ripped off. 

This is a great example of why when you find something that seems like a "Very Good Deal" it is probably a scam. Especially on the internet.
